Keltic Man

This was a 'follow-up' album to the previous band CD by Saunter, a folk-fusion outfit comprising: lead, bass, drums/percussion, keyboards and fiddle and lead and harmony vocals.

Keltic Man was a 'nod' to my Scottish roots and sung in 'Lowland Scots.' i wrote, played and produced the album.

Dora's Husband

comedy short

Katherine King of Hidden Film (UK) and I were friends and she asked me to supply her with the music for a comedy short indie film for the Sedona Film Festival. She already had a piece of stock music music for the 'seance' segment, so I created the intro, ending and incidental music, with which, I'm happy to say, she was delighted! Visit her films on IMDB.

Queen of the street

a victorian stage musical

Tilly, the young woman with the golden voice!  Her story (the full musical) took me two years to complete! It's a 24 song/tune full production musical, encapsulating her hopes and dreams, aspirations and finally realisation of being a top music hall star.

The story has pathos, is just bursting with emotion, fun, dreams, excitement and sorrow. It's a story of love, loss, joy and betrayal and being redeemed from despair and death.

Musically, it's a mixture of old time and modern styles including brass band, 'knees-up' sing-along, orchestral and some modern rythmic dramatic themes.

The un-fettered mind

orchestral piece

This short work was written for a friend with an amazing mind who is a very successful businessman and textile consultant genius!

It comprises of various time signatures and  rythms and charts the progress of a mental solution from the idea stage right through to the final answer to a problem.

cattle car to buchenwald!

the horror of the holocaust!

A short work of hopelessness, despair, sorrow and futility! In this ten minute solo piece for Cello, I tried to capture the thoughts and feelings of both Jews and Gentiles who became unfortunate victims of the evil Nazi regime.

I have deliberately tried not to be melodic or follow compositional rules but let the Cello evoke the despair and dread from the outset.

This tune reminds...nay, exhorts us, to NEVER forget man's inhumanity to man and not to allow such a monstrosity ever again!

A sea turtle's Journey

based on a 'painting, by 'higgins'

This orchestral work attempts to capture the strong  instinctual urge of the female Turtle to traverse the ocean to find that 'perfect' spot on the secluded beach, where she can safely lay her eggs.

The music follows the flow right up to the appearance of the little hatchlings as they make their danger filled dash to the safety of the water.

SAXOPHONE ENSEMBLE N0 1

BARITONE, TENOR, ALTO, SOPRANO

This recent piece is my first totally Sax based music composition so far. I found it really enjoyable to write and produce as it gives all the instruments a chance to be both participants and soloists too!
